Various Appliances Used in Table Top Cooking

Written by admin on June 20, 2010.

There are many different types of table top cooking appliances on the market today. They range from small worktop electrical appliances that rely on an electrical outlet work to table top appliances that run on butane or kerosene for their source of power. It is not possible to give a detailed description of each type of table top cooking appliance available for purchase but some great types will be mentioned.

One of the most efficient types of table top appliances is the multicooker, which is also sometimes known as a deep cooker and a deep fryer. It is ideal for braising, frying, sautéing, casseroles and even baking a cake. Grills or griddles have non-stick, stainless steel and cast iron surfaces and are great for quick cooking ideas like steaks and grilled sandwiches.

Steamers use water in a sealed cooking environment to cook foods to perfection without added fat or calories. Vegetables retain most of their nutrients and rice doesn’t come out starchy or need to be rinsed.

Table top ovens are great smaller versions of the standard oven and perform most of the same functions in a fraction of the space. Great for small kitchens, dorms and other small living arrangements. Frozen foods, leftovers and semi-cooked items can be cooked or heated to perfection in these ovens.

Bread makers take bread to a whole new level. You’ll never look at bread from the store the same way once you’ve tried your own home-baked bread. Most bread makers come with a recipe book filled with great ideas for many different types of breads that are easy to make, delicious and nutritious.

Deep fryers give food a crisp, golden brown crunchy taste. Fryers usually have a basket for submerging food completely in oil, allowing quick and even cooking. Adjustable dials let you control the temperature of the heat and lids ensure that grease doesn’t pop outside the fryer.

Slow cookers or crock pots are durable cookers that over have a removable ceramic inner container that is safe to put in the dishwasher. Meals can be prepared by putting them on to cook in the morning and letting them cook at a slow, steady temperature until done by the evening.

Hotplates, burners and induction hobs are surfaces that heat up like the eye or burner of a stove but on the table top instead. Made from materials such as ceramic and metal, they heat a pan quickly and are great for use with cooking in one pot in places where a traditional stove is not accessible.

Soup kettles are diverse soup cookers and warmers that can be used with wet heat such as hot water or dry heat such as electricity. Snug fitting lids provide a way to keep soups, stews and casseroles warm for hours. They also come with recipe cards and many models even include hook on display cards to let people know what the contents are inside.

When you need a cooking appliance that can be used on a table top, these are some of the most popular and reliable types to choose from.

i have a great recipe that calls for a pressure. I don’t own one and don’t have any intentions of buying one. But I would still love to try to make this recipe. how do you convert it to a regular stove cooking method?
I’m cooking a lentil lamb stew. I just want to use a regular pot. I do not want to buy any additional cooking apparatus.
